NYE Ball 2010
It’s that time of the year again! This year’s New Year’s Eve Ball will be held at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel ballroom on 31 December 2010. A sumptuous buffet dinner has been planned, with entertainment by Gerard Danker and his band “MSG”, as well as DJ Alan Marshall. There will be no corkage charges for duty-paid liquor, champagne and wine brought in by patrons.

Round up the gang and book early to avoid disappointment!

Charges (for table of 10): $1,350 for EA members; $1,550 for non-members. No corkage charges.

The opening session was held on 9th September 2010 and facilitated by Mrs. Kiang-Koh and Mr. Peter Lee of the National Library, Marine Parade. The first group of seven members shared a lively, interactive review of the book Ever After. We came away enlightened and eagerly looking forward to the next meeting.

Flying club

In line with the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC)’s mission to promote aviation among youths and to inculcate in them a strong passion for flying, the SYFC is offering a free flying training programme for youths aged between 16 to 18 years old who are preferably in their first year in polytechnic, junior college or IP/IB schools.

Applications are open throughout the year. Limited vacancies are available for each intake so if you know of someone who is interested and meets the eligibility criteria for the programme, do encourage him or her to sign up fast!

Oktoberfest

Jointly organised by the EA’s Social Circle and Quentin’s Restaurant, Oktoberfest may be a German festival but that won’t stop our Eurasian community and friends from celebrating as well. Make your way down to Quentin’s with your family and friends to savour a sumptuous buffet spread, downing some beer in between, at a never-before special price of only $10++ per jug!

What’s more, you’ll be entertained by our special guest, Mr. Jeorg Hahn, who will showcase his wide repertoire of German and English songs to complement the festival. Your appetites satisfied, just sit back and enjoy playing tombola or participate in activities and walk home with some prizes.

Note:
Bookings for a table of 10 persons can be reserved for you on a first-come-first served basis. Persons with bookings of less than 10pax, will be cordially ushered to their seats upon arrival.

Having someone trained in first aid at home can make a real difference and save lives. C’mon down to the World First Aid Day event at the National Library foyer on Saturday, 11 September for an interactive and fun-filled afternoon of first aid talks, demos and carnival surprises. Learn how to deal with common incidents at home (fall, nose bleed, cut, scald, fire) and try your hand at CPR or bandaging!

First aid skills are life skills. Bring your family, kids and friends along for this free-admission event!
