Learning Journey

A visit to the Eurasian Community House under this programme provides students with a glimpse into the History and Heritage of Eurasians in Singapore. The programme consists of three elements.

The first is a guided tour of the Eurasian Showcase, a small museum giving the visitor a quick summary on the Heritage and History of the Eurasian Community in Singapore.

The second is a guided tour to the WWII – The Eurasian Story Exhibition. This is a unique exhibition on the social life of one community in Singapore during World War II.

The third part is a brief introduction to the Eurasians as one of the Communities in Singapore. There is also a quick lesson on the popular Eurasian folk song and dance, the Jinkli Nona; and to “Kristang”, a spoken patois of Eurasians with origins from 17th century Malacca. The programme ends with a sampling of one of the Eurasians’ signature cakes – the Sugee Cake, as well as a fun quiz on Eurasians.
