Deputy Chairman, Minister Lim Boon Heng launched the People’s Association (PA) first mobile portal – OurCommunity.sg – at the Grassroots Seminar on 21 November 2010. The PA has developed this portal to reach out to more residents. They can access information on PA’s programmes conveniently, 24/7, on the go, through any smartphone. This will help raise awareness of PA’s programmes and draw more residents to our CCs, community programmes and activities.

OurCommunity.sg is a web portal that can be accessed via any smartphone. Unlike mobile “apps” which are phone and browser specific, no download and installation is required to access ourCommunity.sg.

OurCommunity.sg features the courses, events, interest groups and facilities that PA offer, and allows users to locate PA outlets with the help of Google Maps. Users can even find out which District or GRC they belong to, see who their Mayor or Advisers are, by simply keying in their postal code in the “My Community” page of the “Around Me” tab. Here are other features in the portal:

Many people list public speaking of their greatest fears. But learning how to put your views across to a crowd can make you more articulate, build your confidence – and it can also be great fun. The EA Toastmasters Club aims to help individuals, young or old, to improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills. Since the Club was established in 2009, many of its members have successfully overcome their fear of public speaking and have gone on to win awards at speech contests

The Club holds its chapter meetings on the first and third Saturday of each month and welcomes all to attend.
