Deputy Chairman, Minister Lim Boon Heng launched the People’s Association (PA) first mobile portal – OurCommunity.sg – at the Grassroots Seminar on 21 November 2010. The PA has developed this portal to reach out to more residents. They can access information on PA’s programmes conveniently, 24/7, on the go, through any smartphone. This will help raise awareness of PA’s programmes and draw more residents to our CCs, community programmes and activities.

OurCommunity.sg is a web portal that can be accessed via any smartphone. Unlike mobile “apps” which are phone and browser specific, no download and installation is required to access ourCommunity.sg.

OurCommunity.sg features the courses, events, interest groups and facilities that PA offer, and allows users to locate PA outlets with the help of Google Maps. Users can even find out which District or GRC they belong to, see who their Mayor or Advisers are, by simply keying in their postal code in the “My Community” page of the “Around Me” tab. The EA’s Education Committee is looking for tutors to teach:

  • General Paper, Economics, Chinese and Maths to an A-level student, on a voluntary basis.
  • Chinese and maths to a Primary 5 student

Help vote for young Eurasian Gerald Luke Pereira who is a finalist of Teens magazine’s teen MODEL SEARCH 2011. He is the only Eurasian out of 65 semifinalists to make it to the finals.

You can vote for him on Facebook or at Teens magazine’s website. Voting closes on 10 March 2011 and the grand finals will be held on 11 March.

The National Library Board is looking for 5 to 10 individuals to share their personal stories and be recorded on video.

Requirements:
- You must be a grandparent or grandchild (age is not the main indicator).
- Able to take part in a 1-hour interview (including preparation needed before the interview).
- Willing to be featured in video. The videos clips (around 2 – 3 minutes) will be published on the Internet.
- You have personal stories to share, based on any of these themes:
- Food
- Travel
- Fashion
- Hobbies
- Living well
- Managing money
- Sports
- Family values and relationships
- New media (e.g. blogging)
- Gaming
- Working Life

6) If you don’t feel you have interesting stories, but are willing to be interviewed on video, to answer questions like:
- What’s your most unforgettable moment in life?
- What’s your dream retirement plan?
- Do you remember the Green Spot drink?
- What social skills should children learn from grandparents?

The scheduled recording will start from 21 February 2011 to 15 March 2011.

Active EA volunteer Crispin Rodrigues is the producer of an upcoming play by Geraldine Song called Mosiac. Directed by Stephen Fernandez and produced by Crispin Rodrigues and supported by The Arts House, Mosaic is a tale of love, hope and charity that transcends beyond human limitations.

Synopsis:

Cedric Ho has Down Syndrome. Not the full-blown condition, but Mosaic Down Syndrome. A person with full-blown Down Syndrome has every single cell in his body affected with the extra 21st chromosome. Cedric, being a Mosaic has only a few cells afflicted. So it is not physically or visually apparent that he has the Down condition. Nobody knows. Or do they? Does it matter? And to whom?

A One Night Only performance on 5th April 2011 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at The Playden, The Arts House, tickets are $26 each (including $2 ticketing charges) and are on sale at http://bytes.sg and The Arts House. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Down Syndrome Association.
