Eurasian Community Fund (ECF) Education Awards Ceremony

Date: 1 September 2018
Venue: Temasek Polytechnic

The EA’s annual key education event – presented 261 Eurasian students with awards in recognition of their academic success. It dispensed Merit, Excellence and Distinction awards to students who had achieved outstanding academic results at their level of education plus Bursary awards to help defray the cost of education for students from lower-income families. Mr Tan Chuan Jin, Minister for Education (Speaker of the Parliament for Singapore) graced the event as the guest of honour. We also announced the launch of the Joseph Schooling Sports Grant. The EA decided to set up the Grant after Joseph Schooling won Singapore’s first Olympic gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, to recognise the achievements of Joseph, and to inspire young Eurasians to strive for sporting excellence.

Joint Tuition Awards (JTA) Ceremony

Venue: Singapore Polytechnic

Nine Eurasian students have received awards for acing their exams after studying in the Collaborative Tuition Programme run by the four self-help (SHG) groups. The awards ceremony – now in its 15th year – was held recently at Singapore Polytechnic on 25 August 2018. Ng Chee Meng, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office, was guest of honour and handed out certificates to students to celebrate their success in national examinations, including PSLE, ‘N’ levels and ‘O’ levels. It was a truly momentous occasion that was witnessed by hundreds of staff and students from the four SHGs.

Art Workshop

Date: 17 December 2017
Venue: Eurasian Community House

The workshop was attended by students from Primary to Tertiary level. The participants could choose to focus on ships or the Christmas festival and were quick to grasp the sketching and painting techniques. Trainer Ruby Elvina Wyse taught the students to use acrylic paint to create their artwork on a framed canvas.

Drone Workshop

Date: 5 December 2017
Venue: Eurasian Community House

The Eurasian Association conducted its inaugural Drone Workshop, which was attended by students from Primary to Tertiary level. They were excited to learn the basics of flight, aerodynamics and were also trained to program the flight and pattern of the drones with a programming tool on a tablet.

Project Ray of Hope Ceremony

Date: 25 November 2017
Venue: Eurasian Community House

The Project Ray of Hope ceremony provides Popular and Bata vouchers funded by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to assist underprivileged students to defray their education costs and equip themselves for the academic year 2018.

Mathematics Intensive Programme

Date: 5 to 16 June 2017
Venue: Eurasian Community House

The Math Intensive Programme is a speedy revision programme that covers PSLE and ‘O’ levels exams’ maths concepts and formulas. PSLE tutor Christopher Rozario and ‘O’ level tutor Gerald Lee Zhaohong assisted the students with the revision.
