Eurasian Community Fund (ECF) Education Awards Ceremony 2016

The Eurasian Community Education Fund (ECF) Awards ceremony, an annual keynote event which recognises Eurasian students’ achievements, hosted more than 250 students. At the ceremony, where Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry, was guest of honour, the students received cash for books and transport, and grants to cover school fees were also given to disadvantaged students. Two new awards were also introduced: the Irene Joseph Memorial Award and the Parameswara Krishna Pillai (PKP) Nair Memorial Award, which were set up by their respective families to honour the role they played in encouraging and supporting younger family members in their education.


Joint Tuition Awards (JTA) Awards Ceremony 2016

Four Eurasians were among a record number of students who received Popular bookstore vouchers at the 12th Joint Tuition Awards ceremony, organised by MENDAKI. Mr Masagos Zulkifli bin Masagos Mohamed, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, was guest of honour. The 565 recipients are part of the Collaborative Tuition Programme (CTP) run by the four self-help groups and were awarded for their success in examinations including PSLE, N-levels and O-levels.


Self-Help Groups Student Care Limited (SHGSCL) Carnival 2016

Venue: Xingnan Primary School

More than 400 guests, including community leaders from the self-help groups, students and their families, flocked to a family day carnival, where they had great fun. It was organised by SHGSCL – a collaborative initiative by SHGs to run 30 local Student Care Centres (SCCs). At the carnival – launched by Mr Ng Chee Meng, Singapore’s Acting Minister for Education (Schools) – the SHGSCL unveiled a new branding initiative, ‘Big Heart Student Care’, for all SCCs.


Mathematics Intensive Programme 2016

In the second week of June, Ms Lim Ahlin conducted a five-day mathematics intensive programme for students taking the Primary School Leaving Examination. The programme’s lessons focused on effectively revising all important maths concepts, formulas and rules, and practising as many past examination papers as possible.


Buddhist Lodge Education Bursary 2016

Since 1934, the Singapore Buddhist Lodge (SBL) has played a significant role in improving local communities and the lives of the disadvantaged. At its 38th Batch Bursary Award Presentation Ceremony on 9 and 30 April, the charity awarded bursaries to primary, secondary & tertiary-level Eurasian students.


Art Workshop 2016

Venue: Eurasian Community House

Ruby Elvina Wyse has found a creative way of contributing to the Eurasian community in Singapore. She conducted an exclusive art workshop for artistically inclined students. As part of the workshop, Ruby taught students how to pick and add colours, and the techniques of shading and highlighting.


Temasek Cares Education Bursary & Coral de Cruz Memorial Fund Award Ceremony 2016

Awards were distributed awards to some 30 Eurasian students during the ceremony. Justice Prakash, guest of honour at the event, presented the students with their award, and both she and the general manager of Temasek Cares, Woon Saet Nyoon, were presented a token of appreciation by EA President Benett Theseira.


Project Ray of Hope 2015

The ceremony provided Popular and Bata vouchers funded by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to help students to prepare and equip themselves for the academic year in 2016.


Eurasian Community Fund (ECF) Education Awards Ceremony 2015

Venue: Catholic Junior College

The ECF Education Awards is presented to outstanding students while also supporting those in financial need. Nearly 300 Eurasian students were rewarded at the event and received cash for books and transportation while grants covering school fees were given to disadvantaged students.

Mr. Ng Chee Meng, Acting Minister for Education (Schools) graced this event as Guest of Honour.

The event serves to remind the Eurasian Community of the importance of achieving academic excellence and encourages more students to further excel in their studies.


Creative Thinking Workshop

Date: 1 & 2 December 2015
Venue: Eurasian Community House

This special workshop by the EA was organised in order to enable Eurasian students to creatively think of solutions to cope with challenges that they might face when they move on to the next phase of their lives. The workshop was well received by the students and they were eager to apply techniques that they had learned at school.
