National Day Rally feedback exercise

Following Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s National Day Rally (NDR) Speech on 29 August 2010, REACH will be conducting our NDR Feedback Exercise from 29 August to 10 September 2010. The NDR has been an annual highlight since 1966, where the Prime Minister will address key challenges and future directions for Singapore.

Volunteers needed for HeritageFest 2010!

Calling all volunteers to be guides at the Eurasian heritage booth located on the lawn in front of the National Museum! Our booth will be one of six set up by the National Heritage Board to display the heritage of the various ethnic communities in Singapore. This is your chance to promote our proud heritage to fellow Singaporeans and visitors to the HeritageFest. All volunteers will be provided, in advance, copies of the different information panels that will be set up in our booth for guidance.

We plan to organise overlapping shifts of two volunteers per shift. The duration of the shifts will depend on the number of volunteers. So remember, many hands make light work!

Volunteers Needed for Friends of Family Support Services

The EA’s Family Support Services is appealing for volunteers for the EA’s welfare service arm. Volunteers will be helping children of FSS families (education and health needs), clients in homes, counseling and coaching (depression and job loss), family support for the mentally unwell, food and nutrition, infirmed and elderly clients living at home, single parents, and helping the unemployed with retraining and job placement.

You must be 21 years and above to volunteer. Training will be provided!

Casting call for Eurasians for short film

Rupture, a young video production company, is producing its fifth independent film project entitled, “The Will to Will”. This film is a lighthearted story about a chance encounter between two men in a photo shop.

Rupture is looking for a Eurasian man to play Larry, one of the lead characters. He must:

- Be aged between 60 to 70 years old
- Have white hair
- Be well-spoken in English, with a crisp, neat local accent

No prior acting experience is necessary, just a strong confidence in carrying off the role. Shoot dates are set towards the end of August and will probably take place over a weekend, for two days. Talents will be paid a token fee. This is a great opportunity for anyone who has always wanted to give acting a try!

Call for Eurasian actor in his 60s (for URA)

Multimedia People (MMP) is looking for a Eurasian male in his 60s to act in various roles in videos commissioned by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). The videos and multimedia will be used for the upgrade of its Singapore City Gallery. This gallery is a permanent exhibition that showcases Singapore’s planning efforts. It tells the story of how Singapore is planned and how the city has evolved through the decades. It traces Singapore’s urban development and also offers a glimpse into the future.

Auditions will be held within the next few weeks. Acting experience is not necessary, but enthusiasm and a strong command of the English language are necessary.
